When you’re pregnant, it’s normal to have questions and concerns about childbirth.

Will I recognize the symptoms of labor? How will I know when it’s time to go to the hospital? Will the hospital staff laugh at me when my water breaks? These were a few of the questions on my mind toward the end of my pregnancy with my first baby.

As my due date approached I decided to stop googling and start preparing. I signed up for a childbirth preparation class led by nurses from a local hospital. I’m so glad I did!

The class was informative and reassuring. In the company of other pregnant women and their birth partners, I learned what to expect during labor and delivery. I learned that there were many options for coping with physical discomfort during labor and that my birth partner—my husband—could be as involved in the process as we wanted him to be.

I left the class feeling empowered, encouraged, and prepared to make a flexible birth plan.

You can prepare for your own labor and delivery by attending a free childbirth preparation class from 9 AM to 2 PM on Saturday, October 21. The class is presented by Munson Healthcare and hosted at His Love Family Resources. Please call Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital at 989-348-0550 to sign up. We hope to see you there!
